I prefer to look at AUD or EURO, Gold is just extra knowledge I want to study myself but not enough Volatility to play with. AUD is almost liked HSI, moving crazy all the time...Euro reflects the eurozone and left or right the world stock markets.

A bit of idea if you are busy at work, you can load up a chart for AUDUSD. You can practise on this chart also as AUD moves 24 hours. I can't spend too much time at work to practise and look at the markets. At night we practise at home with AUDUSD. You can apply the same strategy.
